RS Productions in collaboration with Mirari Vos is pleased to announce the release of MUTI in Italian movie theaters on May 11, an action thriller produced by Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment, co-directed by George Gallo, Francesco Cinquemani and Luca Giliberto and starring Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman as an expert anthropologist involved in the investigation of a serial killer who kills according to an archaic African ritual. Also in the cast are Cole Hauser, Peter Stormare, Vernon Davis and the Italian actor Giuseppe Zeno. In fact, the film unfolds between different locations in Italy and the United States, with the streets of Rome juxtaposed against the rural atmosphere of Mississippi.

The title of the film is named after the word of the same name, which means medicine in Swahili but also has a darker meaning. The MUTI ritual is a form of human sacrifice widespread among some African tribes, in which the killing is performed after parts of the body have been precisely removed while the victim is still alive so that the cries can summon deities. These rites are macabrely celebrated and commissioned from shamans to achieve greater success, power, energy or good fortune.

MUTI is not only an action thriller about a chase after a ruthless yet fanatical serial killer, it is also the story of two people who come together for a common purpose but never reveal who they really are and harbor dark secrets they carry within themselves.

Synopsis: Unable to process his grief over the death of his daughter, Detective Boyd (Hauser), just days from retirement, embarks on a dramatic hunt for a mysterious serial killer who kills according to a brutal tribal ritual: the Muti. The only one who can help Boyd is Professor Mackles (Freeman), an anthropologist of African descent who harbors an unmentionable secret.

MUTI by George Gallo, Francesco Cinquemani and Luca Giliberto will be in Italian cinemas from May 11, distributed by RS Productions in collaboration with Mirari Vos.
