Rome, January 19, 2023 – Starting Thursday, Jan. 19, the film “State of consciousness,” directed by Marcus Stokes, arrives in cinemas. Starring in the psychological thriller is actor Emile Hirsch, known for his outstanding performance in the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning film “Into the Wild,” but also for his many films with major directors including Oliver Stone, Sean Penn, Ang Lee and Quentin Tarantino. Joining him on the set are female co-stars Tatjana Nardone and Kesia Elwin, Michael E. Rodgers, Yoon C. Joyce, Gioia Libardoni and Robin Mugnaini.
Produced by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s ILBE – Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment in collaboration with Silvio Muraglia’s Paradox Studios and distributed by PS Productions, the film was shot between Bari and Bitonto, with Apulia Film Fund support from the Apulia Film Commission and the Apulia Region. Executive production in Puglia is by Dinamo Film, which, once again, built a scenic construction in a studio space: a Texas-style house designed by Apulian Francesco Scandale.
In “State of consciousness,” nightmare and reality become indistinguishable for protagonist Stephen (Emile Hirsch) when he finds himself forced to take medication for a psychological disorder he does not have. To regain his sanity and return to his normal life, his only chance will be to escape the control of the institution in which he has been confined.
